Unboxing The Daleks' Master Plan

I recently waxed lyrical about the fact that The Daleks' Master Plan could well be regarded as the ultimate Doctor Who story. For a start it's arguably the longest. Then there's the massive sense of scope: from the far future Space Year 4000 to the distant past of the Ancient Egyptians. There are the invisible Visians, the devilish Screamers, the whole swathe of alien Delegates and of course, the ultimate enemies themselves - the Daleks - as well as a renegade Time Lord for the Doctor to butt heads with. There's so much planet-hopping, it's almost impossible to keep up with our current setting, especially with the TARDIS AWOL which brings an urgency and uncharacteristic danger to events. We go from the pulpy hokum of the Kembel jungle to the harrowing darkness of The Traitors via the frenetic frolics of Volcano and finally end with a devastating blow for the TARDIS crew in Destruction of Time.

Recently, Demon Records released their beautiful, beautiful vinyl edition which I've been lucky enough to snap up from Amazon at far less than £100. I'm hoping to listen to this iconoclastic classic again this Christmas when my girls have gone to bed, the crackling vinyl popping a relic of yesteryear to complement the imagined grainy black and white beauty. In the meantime, I've always wanted to share my "Doctor Voices" with the world. I really hope you enjoy this fun little vid I put together as an ode to Jon Culshaw in his superlative video of his unwrapping of The Evil of the Daleks. Now, there's another iconoclastic classic for another day!
